Investigators Search for Attempted Rape Suspect - 'family friend' who kidnapped a paralyzed 12-year-old girl  A man approached the front door of a home around midnight Friday. "Person knocked on the door and I opened the door and came in, said he wanted to use the bathroom," explained the woman who lives in the house. She said it was 42-year-old Michael Charles, someone whom she grew up with, who'd been at the house before. The next thing she knew, the back door was left wide open. "My daughter was missing and I went all out and looking and everything," she said. No more than a half-hour later, the girl was found on the side of the road, helpless and alone, about a quarter of a mile from home. "Why would you do that to a child in a wheelchair that can't help herself," she asked. Her 12-year-old daughter is paralyzed from the waist down. Evil Twin in rape case gets 15 to 20 years The victim of a 2001 rape says she knows many victims are in the wrong place at the wrong time. But, the 34-year-old says, she never thought that the wrong place "would be in my own home, in my bed."
Darrin Fernandez was tried twice for the April 2001 rape. The jury deadlocked because the D-N-A evidence could have been from his identical twin brother. Identical twins have the same genetic profile.
He was convicted last week and was sentenced to 15-to-20 years in prison.

Black man arrested for attempted kidnapping of 13-year-old boy  An arrest Thursday was part of a crackdown by the government on sexual predators.
Over the last month there have been several reports of men trying to lure children into cars.
A man was arrested Wednesday in connection to at least one of those cases. But while the attempted abduction arrest has done a little to ease fear, the fear is not gone.
Parents of the young boys and girls at Sugar Land Middle School can no relax a little. “Definitely a big relief,” said Randy Sofar, student’s father.
As school let out word began to spread about the arrest of a man who police said tried to lure a student into his truck Tuesday morning. It happened near a 13-year-old’s home, not far from the school. Police said 42-year-old Derwin Alan Williams’ arrest is among nine incidents they are investigating. Two officers wounded, black suspect shot dead  A U.S. Marshal and a Battle Creek police officer were wounded, and a suspect was shot dead during an incident in a neighborhood. The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Leroy Tyrone Wilson. He had been the subject of a nationwide manhunt by U.S. Marshals. Wilson also was a person of interest in a Detroit homicide and being investigated for a shooting incident in which a former girlfriend of his was shot. Richland officials looking for woman they suspect of cutting off hand  Richland County officials say a fight ended with one woman's left hand severed and the other woman on the run.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department looking for Adrienne Denis Moultrie in connection with the incident, which is thought to be domestic-related. It happened at approximately 2:30pm. Officials say it started with a fight between the two that resulted in Moultrie retrieving a large knife and severing the hand. Police arrest ex-girlfriend stabbing suspect  Police arrested a man who was wanted for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend who was 11-weeks pregnant Tuesday evening in Robbinsdale. Tony Wayne Robinson, 30, has been charged with second-degree assault. Man Who Killed Girlfriend, Taunted Her Family Sentenced N.Y. -- A man who threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and then boasted about the killing afterward was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison, a prosecutor said. Marlon Fann, 35, of Queens, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, admitting that he shot and killed Merline Port-Louis in the driveway of her home. Before he killed Port-Louis, prosecutors said he called the victim's mother threatening to kill her daughter. Rape Suspect in Rape of 16-year-old girl behind bars in Hampton A man suspected of raping a 16-year-old in Hampton is behind bars.
Police report that around 11 a.m. Tuesday the 16-year-old was standing in the parking lot of a business in the 900 block of LaSalle Avenue. The suspect, Timmy A. Beale, approached the teen, displayed a handgun, and demanded she get into his car.
Beale allegedly drove the suspect to a home in the 1st block of Cornell Drive. After they went inside, Beale told her to remove her clothing and sexually assaulted her.
The suspect then drove the teen to Victoria Boulevard and dropped her off. - (crime) |

Suspected Child Predator Back in Kansas City to Face Sodomy Charges - victims were a 10-year-old and 13-year-old girl A suspected child sex predator was back in Kansas City Friday night to face charges.
The way police finally tracked him down after three years was really interesting. Jah K. Seals, 28, was crawling under a turnstile in a Bronx subway station earlier this year to avoid paying a fare.

Pa. man suspected in rape arrested - the assailant fled naked from the apartment after slashing victim's throat  If Oneil T. Thompson is returned to Delaware, he faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree rape, possession of a deadly weapon during a felony and illegal possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited in the Wednesday night rape and assault.
She told police that Thompson responded to her refusal by punching her in the face and raping her as he held a kitchen knife against her throat. During the 11 p.m. attack, the woman's throat was slashed.
The attack was interrupted when the woman's sister arrived at the front door, and the assailant fled naked from the apartment.- (crime) |

Dark Demon Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday.
