Suspect in the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl has been transported from D.C. to Fairfax County The Hybla Valley-area girl was walking on Buckman Road at about 3 a.m. on Sept. 14 when a man approached her, grabbed her and took her to a nearby playground where he sexually assaulted her, police said. The girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Fairfax County police uncovered suspect information in the case and sent lookouts to other area law enforcement agencies. Officials with the D.C. Department of Corrections informed Fairfax County that the suspect, 22-year-old Darnell Ross, of Washington, was in their jail, police said. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Citizen Aids in Capture of "Polite" Kidnapping Sexual Assault Suspect A 15-year-old girl was attacked on the way to school yesterday morning, but thanks to a resident in the area, a suspect is behind bars.
Savannah-Chatham police say 29-year-old "Tower Polite" kidnapped and sexually assaulted the teenager shortly after 6am on the corner of West 34th Street and Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard. The victim says polite grabbed her and dragged her away from her bus stop.
A resident heard the girl scream and came out of her home to assist the victim and called 911. She even followed the suspect, giving officers information leading to Polite's arrest. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Black Oakland County Political Insider and Church Elder Charged with Rape of a 12-year-old relative for four years  A man with a long connection to Oakland County politics was charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct. Prosecutors said he molested a young relative. Richard Williams worked for Oakland County executive L. Brooks Patterson for more than 10 years. He has been very active in politics and was an elder at his church.
The investigation began three weeks ago when a relative of Williams came forward and revealed that he sexually assaulted her from the time she was 12-years-old until she was 16. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Sports: Ex footballer wanted for rape - murders his two daughters then himself  Two young girls were found dead in the back seat of a car after their father -- wanted on rape charges -- fatally shot himself in what police called an apparent murder-suicide.
An officer patrolling a parking lot at the Bull Run fossil plant near Oak Ridge discovered Richard A. Howard, 32, sitting in his car. When the officer returned to the car he found Howard slumped over the steering wheel, dead from a gunshot wound.
A suicide note, handgun and the bodies of daughters Brionna, 3, and Markayla, 2, were found in the car. Howard, a former University of Tennessee football player had two felony rape warrants against him - (crime) - (more sports) |
Two Black Men Found Guilty In 2003 Kidnap, Rape, Torture and Murder Of College Student Two Brooklyn men were found guilty Thursday of raping and murdering a Hunter College student in 2003.
Three years after being arrested, separate juries found Kayson Pearson and Troy Hendrix guilty of killing Ramona Moore. The Brooklyn District Attorney has said he will seek the death penalty in these cases.
Prosecutors say in April of 2003, Moore was kidnapped then sexually abused and tortured in Hendrix's Flatbush home. She was then beaten to death.
Pearson was also convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl two days after Moore was killed.
The jury is still deliberating on whether Hendrix is guilty in that incident. - (crime) |

Turns Himself Into Hampton Police A statutory rape suspect turned himself into Hampton Police. Orlando Lee Johnson is accused of entering the home of a 12-year-old girl between November 27, 2005 and March 20, 2006 while her guardian was at work. Johnson allegedly had sexual contact with the girl. Johnson and the girl knew one another prior to these occurences. Johnson is charged with rape and forcible sodomy. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Education: Black Teacher and Basketball Coach Admits To Sex With Female Student In Classroom CHICAGO -- An East Leyden High School teacher accused of having sex with a student faces charges of criminal sexual assault. The 28-year-old social studies teacher and boys freshman boys' basketball coach allegedly had a relationship with a 17-year-old female student. McQueen Duncantell was so bold that he sexually assaulted a junior girl inside the Franklin Park high school when all the other students were gone.
"This is a particular room that had, really, no windows," said police. Police said the junior girl told one of her friends, and word of the relationship got around.

Former cop Isaac Johnston charged with indecent exposure Isaac Johnston is one of four men arrested in the Municipal Park bathroom Friday and charged with indecent exposure. He wasn't available to talk about that day. It's a day significant for more than the arrest. It was his last day on the job. Johnston was wrapping up his last 2 weeks with the Prichard Police Department. He worked in the patrol division for about 5 years. Law Enforcement: Mom Helps Snare Black Dallas police officer In Alleged Online Solicitation of 14-year-old Girl Texas -- The mother of a 14-year-old Arlington girl helped police arrange the arrest of a suspected online predator who used cellular telephone text messaging to contact the woman's daughter, according to police. Rachel said her daughter met the man in an online chatroom at dallaspeeps.com. The man who was met by police turned out to be a Dallas police officer. Arlington police arrested 25-year-old officer Patrick Taylor, and charged him with criminal solicitation of a minor. "He's supposed to protect and serve, he's supposed to protect my child and he was taking advantage of us. This, this is not right and I'm angry, but I'm scared," Rachel said. Joshua Dunson charged with homosexually attacking a six-year-old boy  The case against a man charged with homosexually attacking a six-year-old boy is moving forward. A grand jury indicted 21-year-old Joshua Dunson on six charges, including aggravated child molestation and kidnapping.
Investigators say Dunson took the boy from a mobile home park on Quail Run Road in Effingham County. He drove him to a wooded area where police say Dunson molested the child, leaving him in the woods. Dunson can now either plead guilty or await a trial. (or commit suicide) - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Member of notorious Nut Cases gang found guilty OAKLAND, CA -- The man police called one of the most violent members of the gang behind a crime spree that killed five people was found guilty today of four murders and could face the death penalty.
An Alameda County jury convicted Demarcus Ralls, 21, on three counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder. Jurors also found him guilty of two counts of attempted murder and more than a dozen counts of robbery and attempted robbery.
Ralls is the first of six members of the Nut Cases gang -- some of whom sport tattoos of the Planters "Mr. Peanut" logo -- to go on trial in connection with the crime spree, which included five killings and 23 robberies over 10 weeks and ended with their arrests in January 2003. Teacher's aide charged with sex abuse
 A teacher's assistant has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a 16-year-old student at Wyandanch Memorial High School in Wyandanch. Torrence K. Lewis, 40, of Davidson Street, Wyandanch, was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Police said they began an investigation in February after they were informed by school officials about rumors of inappropriate behavior between a staff member and a student. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
In 3rd Trial - Twin Darrin Fernandez Convicted of Rape A man who twice won mistrials on rape charges because key DNA evidence could have come from either him or his twin brother was convicted Wednesday in his third trial.
Darrin Fernandez, 31, was convicted in the April 2001 rape of a Boston woman who said she was repeatedly raped by a man who broke into her Dorchester apartment while she was sleeping. DNA from semen found on the woman's pillowcase could have come from either him or his twin brother, Damien. Prosecutors introduced evidence they said showed Fernandez committed a series of home break-ins, sexual assaults and attempted sexual assaults with characteristics similar to the April 2001 rape. - (Newsroom)

Black Arrested, Charged With Murder Of White Nursing Student   JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A black was arrested and charged with the murder of a 23-year-old nursing student. Kimothy Simmons, 17, is suspected in last week's slaying of Sarah Whitlock. Whitlock was stabbed to death in her Riverside apartment on March 10 by Simmons, who may have been impersonating a police officer at the time. Simmons was arrested during a carjacking and brought in for questioning. His arrest came on the same day that Whitlock's ashes were scattered at sea. Undersheriff Frank Mackesy said a detective remembered seeing Simmons on a surveillance tape that showed him allegedly shoplifting a shirt with the word "police" on it. On the night Whitlock was killed, police said they found a narcotics officer's baseball cap, and a price tag from the police T-shirt, plus an unloaded gun and holster. According to police, Simmons was locked up in a juvenile detention center at age 12 for reasons unknown, and was later arrested for escaping from the facility. Dark Demon Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday.
