Darkest Africa: South Africa, Cape Town - Cops ask for help in finding baby killers  Police have remained tight-lipped after the murder of a six-month-old baby in Rondebosch East two days ago. On Thursday they released an identikit of one of the four intruders responsible for the murder that has shocked the community. Jordan-Leigh Norton was stabbed when four intruders gained entry to her Scout Road home, held up her nanny and uncle and ransacked the house of valuables. Oregon: Graduating senior dies after attack by black man  University of Oregon student Phillip Gillins died from injuries suffered in an attack that happened a day before he was to take part in commencement ceremonies. Gillins, 22, died the next day from a brain injury suffered when three men confronted him in an alley about a block from a campus-area bar he had just left. One of the men punched Gillins in the face. He fell to the ground and hit his head on concrete, never regaining consciousness. The assailants fled when Gillins failed to wake. Police are looking for his attackers. The man who threw the fatal punch was described as a black man in his early 20s with a slight build and a shaved head. Police announce suspect in Bonistall murder  The Newark Police Department announced early Monday afternoon that, with unspecified physical evidence in hand, they have charged James Edward Cooke Jr., 34, of the unit block of Lincoln Drive in Newark, with the murder of 20-year-old University of Delaware student Lindsey Marie Bonistall. The body of the sophomore English major from White Plains, N.Y., was discovered in her Towne Court apartment early Sunday, May 1, after an arson fire. The suspect was arrested as a suspect in the home invasion of another University of Delaware student. - (reader) |
Man Faces Murder Charge in Death * Picture of victim of Kansas City shooting found by NNN reader  KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Prosecutors on Friday charged a man in the shooting death of another man found dead in a car overnight. John Williams, 23, of Kansas City, Kan., faced a first-degree murder charge in the death of Jonathan R. Kidwell, 21, of Blue Springs, Mo.Kidwell's body was found in a car near 11th and Lafayette. | Four black prisoners are accused of battery as a hate crime after allegedly beating up three white inmates JANESVILLE, Wis. The white men were dragged into jail cells and held while they were beaten repeatedly, officials said. The assaults happened over several days until one of the victims finally told jail staff. All the assaults happened in the top security section at the jail. The prisoners have not yet been charged. |
Three Black Suspects in Germantown Stabbing of White Teenager Still At Large * Teenager Fatally Stabbed Near Party Montgomery County police continue to search for three suspects believed responsible for stabbing a teenager to death in Germantown this weekend. It happened early Sunday in the 22000 block of Canterfield Way. Police say when they arrived about 1:30 a.m., they found 18-year-old Ezekiel Babendreier in the street. He'd been stabbed at least once and died a short time later at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. The crime occurred in an upscale suburban neighborhood Police say all three suspects are young black men. The suspect seen with the knife is described as about 5'10" tall and 160 pounds. He is believed to be between 18 and 22 years old. Man is fatally beaten in city jail  A man arrested on aggravated sexual-battery charges was fatally beaten in the city jail by the teenage son of the woman he allegedly assaulted. Gregory G. "Grasshopper" Robinson, 47, was found by Richmond sheriff's deputies on the floor of his cell, bleeding and unconscious from blunt force trauma to his head and face. Robinson died Tuesday afternoon, Richmond police subsequently charged inmate Shamar Lamont Young, 19, with the killing.- (Aryan Barbarian) |
Forgery Was Possible Motive For Murder, Police Say - 78-Year-Old White Man Stabbed To Death In KCK Home  KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Charges were filed in connection with the stabbing death of a 78-year-old man. Thomas Winslow was found dead inside his home. Winslow was dependent on a wheelchair and was unable to get out of bed without assistance.

| Racial Hatecrimes: Seven black males were arrested for suspicion of assaulting two white men in Compton today after allegedly yelling racial slurs at them in what is being investigated as a hate crime, authorities said. Between 15 and 20 black males stood at the intersection and yelled racial slurs and flashed gang signs at the victims. The two white victims suffered moderate injuries, he said. Five shots at five heads, says Beach prosecutor   VIRGINIA BEACH — The gunman who killed three people and injured two others at a condominium did not randomly fire into a crowded room - the attorney said the killer moved methodically from one victim to another, firing his handgun only five times – once per victim – before leaving. “Every shot fired was to the head,” Bryant said. “There was no wasted shot. He apparently was trying to kill all five people.” Marcus V. Police ask for help in catching a suspected serial black rapist who murdered a homeless woman St. Petersburg, Florida - Police officers are handing out flyers in parks and shelters downtown. They're looking for people who might have seen a homeless woman, 49-year-old Sara Lynn Wineski, in the days before she was murdered. Police have only a general denoscription of the suspect, but say he’s a thin black man with a dark complexion in his mid-to-late 20’s. - (White Boy) |
Appeals Court Rejects Fla. Widow Gun Claim  WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- An appeals court on Wednesday rejected a lawsuit that the widow of a teacher gunned down by a 13-year-old student had filed against a gun distributor. Pam Grunow's lawsuit argued that Valor Corp. was negligent in selling the cheap handgun used in the shooting and should be held liable for the May 2000 death of her husband, Barry Grunow. He was shot in the doorway of his middle school classroom by Nathaniel Brazill, who stole the gun from the man he considered to be a grandfather. - (Black on White) |

Suspect told friend of Oceanfront slayings, document says * Homicide victims apparently innocent bystanders to domestic dispute
   The suspect in Saturday’s triple slaying at the Oceanfront confessed to a friend that he killed the 24-year-old mother of his daughter and “shot other people,” according to a court affidavit. Marcus Valentino Garrett was arguing with the mother of his daughter. They say that's when he began shooting, killing her, Kusa, and another man. Police identified the dead as ex-girfriend Rachel Scheer, 24, of Virginia Beach; Bryce Bauerband, 26, of Chicago; and David Kusa, 25, of South Carolina. - Brewski) - (Crime) |
Accused Trooper Shooter Claims Temporary Insanity - State Trooper Shot 9 Times During Weekend Traffic Stop  Mo. -- A man charged with shooting a state trooper over the weekend said he's sorry for what he did -- and that he was temporarily insane when he fired the shots. Tommy R. Rollins is accused of shooting trooper Brandon Brashear nine times early Saturday morning after the officer pulled him over in Lee's Summit. Brashear, who has been on the force for about two years, is hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Rollins is charged with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action. He made a special court appearance Sunday in Kansas City on his 26th birthday. - (reader alert) |

Francis Vallery Jr accused of killing his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Herring, 30, of Scott, died at a hospital early Wednesday afternoon after a man walked into the lobby of the Microtel Inn and Suites in Lafayette and shot her repeatedly. Herring's ex-boyfriend, Francis Vallery Jr., 31, was arrested in connection with the shooting Thursday at a friend's home, Lafayette Police Cpl. Mark Francis said. The boy was stabbed to death as he played in front of his grandmother's home in Alexandria's Del Ray neighborhood.

Reward Offered For Missing 5-Year-Old - Emily Rimel Disappeared Dec. 7  COLUMBUS, Ohio -- There is another plea from a Franklin County family to help find a missing 5-year-old girl. Emily Rimel disappeared from her Madison Township apartment in the early morning hours of Dec. 7. Dispite a widespread search effort, she has not been seen or heard from since. Police arrested Lindsey Bruce, 23, and charged him with raping the girl. There is a $12,000 reward for information that leads to Emily's whereabouts.
