Francisco Police issued an arrest warrant for Rafael Antonio Cuevas in stabbing
death of white An
arrest warrant has been issued for the stabbing death of Timothy
Griffith after a San Francisco Giant baseball game on Sept. 17.
Rafael Antonio Cuevas, 22, of San Francisco, is suspected of killing Griffith,
21, of Redwood City, who was stabbed in the heart after brushing up against the
suspect's car as he walked with friends along Terry A. Francois Boulevard around

Carjackings Suspect Nabbed in Mo. A
man who police said carjacked four vehicles in the San Francisco Bay area -- sexually
assaulting two of the victims -- was arrested in Missouri. Derrick Austin Hill,
22, was arrested without incident as he and a friend drove toward St. Louis. Hill
was jailed in Missouri and officials sought to extradite him to California. Hill
faced charges including kidnapping, sexual assault and robbery-carjacking. - (Hellcat,

Police Name Suspect in Series of Weekend Carjackings and Sexual AssaultPolice
in the Bay Area have identified the man who who allegedly committed a series of
four carjackings, a sexual assault, and several kidnappings over the weekend.
Investigators are looking for 22-year-old Derrick Austin Hill of Fairfield.
They believe that as of noon on Tuesday, Hill had returned to the Fairfield area

girl who was held captive for days before he let her go, a jury decided Tuesday.
The same jury convicted David Montiel Cruz last week on all 10 felony charges
in the brazen June 2003 assault. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 115 years

Jimenez Jr. could be sentenced to life in prison without parole if he's convicted
of killing Graciela Rivas, 33. Jimenez,
who was 17 at the time of the incident, is being tried as an adult. Santa Rosa
police said Jimenez fatally stabbed Rivas when she confronted him burglarizing
her family's Princeton Drive apartment on April 16. Rivas' 2-year-old son witnessed

Parolee held in rape of 14-year-old at birthday party Sacramento:
A parolee suspected of giving alcohol to a 14-year-old girl and then raping her
after she fell asleep at her friend's birthday party was arrested. Joshua Bracy,
30, was at a birthday party night at his girlfriend's house. After his girlfriend
fell asleep Bracy befriended the 14-year-old and gave her alcoholic beverages.
The girl then fell asleep on the couch and later woke to find Bracy sexually assaulting

Hate crime charges dropped Yolo County District Attorney David Henderson appeared in court Tuesday to formally drop hate crime enhancement charges against a Davis youth accused of vandalizing the car of a local gay man and the home of a black family in an October incident. "This was an indiscriminate act of vandalism," said Steve Sabbadini, an attorney representing the youth. "His behavior is inexcusable, but there was no hate motivation involved in the incident." |

police report a stranger sexually assaulted a pregnant woman in her apartment.
He knocked on her door and asked for directions. When she gave them he left but
returned and asked to use the phone but when she tried to close the door he
forced his way inside and sexually assaulted her. She started screaming and
told him she was pregnant. The woman needed stitches. He is dark skinned

inmate charged with the rape and murder of an elderly woman in Turlock 18 years
ago was arraigned in Stanislaus County Superior Court. The judge assigned a public
defender to represent Arthur Sanchez, 41. Sanchez is accused of killing
Mary Martha Odermatt,
65, behind Sacred Heart Catholic Church early in the morning on Aug. 11, 1986.
Sanchez is serving life in prison without possibility of parole after he admitted
three other rapes, a stabbing and a murder. - (

longtime Merced priest was removed from duties at St. Patrick's parish amid allegations
he posted messages on a homosexual dating Web site. The Bishop of the Diocese
of Fresno said in a statement that he is sending the Rev. Jean-Michael Lastiri,
