CORPUS CHRSTI - It's 99 years in prison for Eugenio Sandoval, the illegal immigrant convicted of raping an Annaville woman in her home last summer. Last week, Sandoval was found guilty on five separate charges related to the assault. Wednesday afternoon, the judge decided that Sandoval would serve the sentences for each of those counts all at the same time. That means he would be eligible for parole in 30 years. Bush wants amnesty for illegal alien 'guest worker' Benito Martinez who raped 11-year-old girl
Syracuse police say they have enough evidence to charge Benito Martinez with first-degree rape, but they have to find him. The suspect has been missing since the incident happened early Saturday morning. Police say he was renting a room in a house where other families were living, including the 11-year-old victim. Police say the 11-year-old girl and the suspect did not know each other, aside from the fact they lived under the same roof. Twenty-two-year-old Benito Martinez was renting a room in the house and carpooled to various construction jobs with others also renting there. Police say he is in the country illegally. Lawyer: Foreign Student from India to plead guilty in professor’s stabbing
BOSTON (AP) _ A college student accused of stabbing a science professor who gave him a failing grade plans to plead guilty to the attack, his lawyer said. Nikhil Dhar, 24, is accused of attacking his professor at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell because he was flunking out of school and feared he would be deported to his native India. Dhar was scheduled to go to trial Wednesday in Middlesex Superior Court in Cambridge. But his attorney said there won’t be a trial and that Dhar plans to enter guilty pleas April 17 to charges of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Dhar is accused of stabbing Mary Elizabeth Hooker on Dec. 22, 2005, after following her more than 20 miles from the Lowell campus to her Cambridge home. Right before the attack, Dhar allegedly told Hooker, ”Now I will have to go back to my country,” police said. Dhar, who was from Calcutta, India, came to the United States on a student visa.

Maribel Gomez, the Ephrata woman who was convicted of beating her 2-year-old son to death, was sentenced to 26 years and 8 months in court on Monday. Gomez was found guilty of homicide by abuse and first-degree manslaughter last month. Raffy Gomez was 25 months old when he died Sept. 10, 2003, of blunt head trauma while in his mother's care. He had spent a total of 14 months in foster care while healing from injuries inflicted by his 32-year-old mother that included broken legs, skull fractures, bruises and burns. An illegal alien charged in connection with an acdcident that claimed the lives of two teenage girls was convicted of DUI two months ago in Chesapeake. The accident occurred late Friday night when Alfredo Ramos crashed into the back of a vehicle at a red light. The rear-ending killed teenagers Allison Kuhnhardt and Tessa Tranchant. Alfredo Ramos was convicted in February on DUI charges from November 13, 2006. The arresting officer commented in his report that Ramos "almost ran him down". He was given a 90 day suspended sentence, fined $250, had his drivers' license suspended, and he ordered to participate in ASAP, an alcohol awareness program. In the summer of 2000, after 5-year-old Iriana DeJesus was abducted and killed in Hunting Park, Philadelphia police zeroed in on a baby-faced Honduran drifter they knew only as "Carlos". They even issued an arrest warrant for a Carlos Doe. Yesterday, thanks to a DNA database, homicide investigators identified Carlos by his real name. Border drone finds Mex child sex-abuse suspect
An unmanned plane helped border agents net a man wanted on child sex abuse charges in Washington state, federal officials said Thursday. The aircraft was flying along the Arizona-Mexico border late Tuesday when it detected and tracked six suspected aliens, including Leopoldo Aparicio-Lopez, a Mexican national. Prosecutors in Kent, Washington, issued warrants for Aparicio-Lopez, 25, last May on a charge of third-degree rape of a child, alleging that he had consensual sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend. Aparicio-Lopez was 23 at the time. The sexual relations came to light when police were called to a home in Kent because of a verbal dispute between the 15-year-old, who had just learned she was pregnant, and her mother. Suspected Deputy Killer Armando Garcia Arrested in Mexico
A fugitive captured by Mexican police in the 2002 slaying of a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy could be extradited in the next two months, and prosecutors plan to seek a life sentence, the district attorney said Friday. Mexican authorities arrested Jorge Arroyo Garcia Thursday in the city of Tonala in western Jalisco state, according to a statement from the U.S. embassy in Mexico City. Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley said in an interview with The Associated Press that prosecutors want to seek the death penalty. But they can't because of a 1978 treaty between the United States and Mexico that allows Mexico to deny extradition if a person faces the death penalty. "I'd flip the switch," Cooley said in an interview. A man charged with causing a wreck that killed Leeanna Newman, a pregnant young mother last week in Rowan County faced a judge for the first time Thursday morning. With an interpreter by his side, Carlos Alfonso Guillen Martinez went before a judge via video. The judge read Martinez his charges: second degree murder and driving while impaired. The judge warned the second degree murder charge carries a maximum sentence of 479 months in jail, depending on his record.

The arrests were in Rowan, Forsyth, Montgomery, Duplin, and Johnston counties. Carlos Alfonso Guillen Martinez, 33, is charged with second degree murder in the Feb. 6 crash that killed Leeanna Newman, 20, and her unborn child.

A Rowan County family is trying to cope with the loss of their daughter and unborn granddaughter. Leeanna Newman, 20, died overnight at Carolinas Medical Center after she was involved in a car accident Tuesday night. Leeanna’s family said she would have been 21-years-old next month. They also confirmed that she was eight months pregnant with a little girl, who also did not survive the crash.

A teenager is under arrest for raping a woman in her MetroWest apartment. The 17-year-old suspect was found living in a garage only about a mile away from the Tradewinds complex where the attack happened Wednesday. Officers arrived at the condo overnight to find a door partially open. When they went inside, they said, the suspect was hiding under a table and apparently living in the garage. An anonymous caller recognized Leighton Henry, 17, from surveillance video shown on TV and called 911, sending detectives scrambling to search for evidence. Detectives found a Jamaican passport. Jefferson and Elnora Calimlim were supposed to report to prison Wednesday to begin their four-year sentence. But a judge granted the Filipino immigrants a 30-day delay so an appropriate prison can be found for the Calimlims. Their attorneys said the doctors both have health conditions. Federal prosecutors said Irma Martinez worked for the Calimlims for 19 years. They kept her in the basement and promised to get her a green card. That never happened. - (Newsroom)

  The Mexican government sent a diplomatic note to the United States on Tuesday protesting the fatal shooting of a Mexican immigrant by a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Francisco Javier Dominguez-Rivera, 22, of Puebla, Mexico, was killed Friday in a confrontation with the unidentified agent north of the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona between Bisbee and Douglas. A group of seven people were crossing the desert and the agent took six of them into custody without incident, authorities said. But the agent and Dominguez-Rivera began fighting, authorities said.   I would like to know and why Paulo Sheispan-Landero is being released back into society after posting such a small bail amount. This "man" obviously has no regard for any of the laws of this country as he was already sent back to Mexico and somehow made it back here only a week later. Now he has freedom to leave this country and go back to Mexico. I believe the judge in this case should be thrown right out of court for this blatant disregard for justice. This case goes to show all of us that not all illegal immigrants are here strictly for good reasons; they sometimes are the lowest forms of life on the planet and now a young girl will forever be scarred. This crime would not have occurred if the man could not have gotten into our country so easily. I will be truly amazed if you ever see him in court.

Oklahoma cities and counties with large numbers of illegal immigrants disagree with the division of responsibility for their incarceration.

  WAILUKU – When a man grabbed and dragged a woman as she walked on a Lahaina street, her “worst nightmare” came true, a deputy prosecutor said. “She can no longer walk on the streets, whether it’s daytime or nighttime, without looking over her shoulder,” said Deputy Prosecutor Robert Rivera. “Her entire life has changed because of the actions of a person who’s illegal, who’s intoxicated and who intended to cause her harm.” On Wednesday, Jorge Alberto Lobos-Aquil was sentenced to a 10-year prison term for abducting the woman on June 25 while she was walking on Front Street. Lobos-Aquil, a 28-year-old native of Guatemala, had pleaded no contest to kidnapping and first-degree forgery for fake immigration documents he had when he was arrested. The prosecution dismissed a charge of attempted first-degree sexual assault in exchange for his pleas.

I know I allowed the devil to rule my life.""I thank God for having patience for me. I don't deserve to cause you pain. You did not deserve this. I deserve what I am getting," he said. The Mexican drifter known as the "Railroad Killer" was executed for the slaying of physician Claudia Benton 7 1/2 years ago. She was killed during a deadly spree in 1998 and 1999, which earned Resendiz a spot on the FBI's Most Wanted list as authorities searched for a murderer who slipped across the U.S. border and roamed the country by freight train. Benton, 39, was stabbed with a kitchen knife, struck 19 times with a 2-foot-tall bronze statue and raped in her home eight days before Christmas in 1998 in the Houston enclave of West University Place, just down the street from a railroad track.

An HIV-positive man accused of having unprotected sex without telling his partners may have done so with more than 25 women in the past two years, police say.  Police announced yesterday they've charged 28-year-old Clato Lual Mabior with three additional counts of aggravated sexual assault and two additional counts of forcible confinement after two more of the man's alleged victims came forward this week. The women claim the crimes occurred last year. Mabior was initially charged with one count each of aggravated sexual assault, forcible confinement and uttering threats after a 17-year-old girl told police he sexually assaulted and threatened her inside his Sherbrook Street home on Sunday morning.
