Negro charged with rape of child Gates Police Officer, Brian Ritchie, arrested 30-year-old Lawayne Turner of Gates for having sexual intercourse with a child who was known to him. Turner is charged with rape in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child. Justin Albert Johnson, confessed to rape and strangulation of two little 3-year-old girls Last week, authorities charged Justin Albert Johnson, 51, in the 1992 rape and murder of 3-year-old Christine Jackson. Among the pieces of evidence against Johnson are the alleged confession and DNA linking him to the crime. Black Cincinnati Cop Goes To Trial on Rape Charges  The trial begins for a Cincinnati Police officer accused of raping a crime victim. Jury selection is underway in the trial of William Simpson. The 46-year-old is charged with three counts of rape and three counts of sexual battery. Prosecutors say Simpson insisted on taking pictures of woman's injuries from an assault in October. Deputy foiled a rape in progress by black  A Broward Sheriff's deputy prevented a potential rape by sneaking up on a suspect who was forcing himself on a homeless woman in a strip mall alley Saturday morning. Deputy Eric Rodriguez arrived at the shopping center shortly after 5 a.m. after a resident heard screams for help coming from the area, according to a Sheriff's Office report Monday. While the deputy investigated the scene, he found a man trying to sexually assault a woman at knife point. Investigators identified the suspect as David Gervin, 26, a registered sex offender. Black Elementary School lunchroom worker arrested for rape of 15-year-old girl A man charged with having sex with a Kansas teenager he brought to Alabama was fired Monday night from his job as a lunchroom worker at Maxwell Elementary School. Prince Leon Knight, 37, was charged with second-degree rape after police found the 15-year-old at his mother’s apartment. She had been reported missing by her parents on Jan. 28. Police say that the teenager voluntarily came to Alabama with Knight. Her parents arrived in Tuscaloosa at to pick up their daughter. Black Deacon accused of rape inside Miami church MIAMI - A church deacon was jailed, accused of raping a 15-year-old girl inside the place of worship. Irvin Van Jenkins, 46, told police he did not have intercourse with the girl during the attack at United House of Prayer. The girl had been sent to the second floor to look through some files when Jenkins stopped her in the hallway and began to molest her, police said. Jenkins asked the girl for sex and she refused. Jenkins then grabbed the teen by the waist and began pushing her into a room. Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church official accused of raping 12-year-old girl  The 31-year-old music director of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal, an influential West Baltimore church, was in jail yesterday on charges that he raped and abused a 12-year-old female parishioner during three encounters, city police and church officials said. Timothy D. Price III has been held in lieu of $1 million bail at Baltimore's Central Booking and Intake Center since he was arrested. A Chattanooga Negro wanted for rape has turned himself (in)  Police last week asked Channel-3 Eyewitness News to feature the story about the wanted fugitive,Christopher Jermaine Kelley. On Friday, jurors in state District Judge Mollee Westfall's court deliberated less than an hour before sentencing Joe Dickson to 11 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault and 17 years for aggravated kidnapping. A grand jury in Kentucky has declined to indict a Lumberton City Council member who had been accused of raping an 18-year-old woman. A Jefferson County grand jury declined Monday to indict John Cantey Jr. on a rape charge.

Negro sentenced to death for slaughter of White 10-year-old girl and her family   A Tulsa man who was convicted last month of three murders in Owassowas formally sentenced to three death sentences. The Judge set an execution date for Clarence Goode Jr. Jurors found Goode, 31, guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Kayla Burchett, 10, a Collinsville fifth-grader; her mother, Tara Burchett-Thompson, 25; and the slain woman's husband, Mitch Thompson, 28. Their bodies were found Aug. 26, 2005, at the couple's home. The jury imposed a death sentence on each murder count, and Goode received a concurrent 20-year term for first-degree burglary. He has maintained that he is innocent. Co-defendant Kenneth D. Johnson faces a Feb. 19 trial on the same charges. Judge Randy Smith ordered Vines undergo the testing to determine his competency to stand trial and the degree of his mental retardation. Vines, 43, faces multiple counts of forcible sodomy, abduction, abduction with the intent to defile and commonlaw burglary. Black Nurse Accused Of Stealing From Elderly, Disabled, 87-year-old & 100-year-old  CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A nurse who was supposed to be taking care of the elderly and disabled is now charged with victimizing them. Last month investigators said Peggy Respass used credit card numbers belonging to some of her patients and said they were looking into more cases. On Monday they announced charges have been filed in four cases. Police said the in-home health care worker was hired to take care of Rosa McNeil and then tried to take her money. McNeil lost her eyesight to a tumor when she was just seven months old and over the last several years she’s lost her ability to care for herself. Mary Joyner, McNeil’s sister, discovered the theft when she went to pay McNeil’s bills. She found a check for $500 had been stolen and cashed. Police say Respass took McNeil’s money and also stole from three others, including a woman who is 87 years old and one who is 100. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Wichita Black Pleads No Contest to Murder of 79-year-old White woman  The man accused of killing elderly community activist Evelyn Middlestadt has pleaded "no contest" to felony murder. Benjamin Fish will be sentenced in late March. Middlestadt was found dead in her Wichita business with bruises to her face and chest. Authorities arrested Van Roger Smith Jr., 16, and Sherrod Nicholas Harrison, 19, Monday afternoon. After a search, the Moore County Sheriff's Office took Michael Graham Currie, 18, into custody Monday night. All three teens were charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of breaking and entering. All are from Cameron. Twelve-year-old Emily Elizabeth Haddock was shot to death Friday in her home on Marks Road outside of Vass, authorities said. The girl had stayed home from school with strep throat and was alone. "(She was) very quiet, soft spoken, always had a smile. Smiling Black pleads not guilty to running down a white family in McDonald's parking lot - killing 2-year-old   The black man accused of running down five white family members and killing a 2-year-old girl in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Covington last May pleaded not guilty. Lanny Perry Barnes, 46, attended the 15-minute arraignment hearing wearing street clothes and no expression on his face. Sitting behind him was Stephanie Casola, the mother who was hit, along with her two sons, niece, and sister, by Barnes' vehicle. Witnesses told police that Barnes struck the family, backed up, smiled, and drove into them again. Casola's niece, Avery King, died of her injuries. Black Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday.
