Workplace Shooting by 'Fat Albert' * Mom: Worker in Shooting Teased Over Size   A man shot and wounded four co-workers Thursday morning at a manufacturing business that employs disabled people through Easter Seals, telling police he shot them over respect, police said. Two men and two women were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Jason Burnam, 24, was arrested inside the company cafeteria. Burnam indicated to officers that the victims were targeted and when asked why he shot them, he said "it was over respect." Quadruple Killer Put to Death in Okla.    Corey Duane Hamilton was pegged as the triggerman in the 1992 execution-style shooting deaths of four employees at a Lee's Famous Chicken Recipe restaurant in Tulsa. He was convicted in 1993. Of four defendants who were convicted in separate trials, only Hamilton was given a death sentence for the slayings of Stephen Williams, Sendy Lara, Joseph Gooch and Ted Kindley. Co-defendant Donnie Eugene Daniels testified against Hamilton and received five life sentences. Co-defendant William Maxwell Hamilton, who is Corey Hamilton's brother, is serving four no-parole life sentences and one life sentence. Co-defendant Tyrone Lamont Johnson is serving four life sentences.OKLAHOMA CITY -- It's a scene that Tulsa Police Sgt. Mike Huff won't forget, even after 14 years: Three bodies on the floor of a restaurant freezer, each shot in the head. Black Gets Life In Slaying Of Asian Hopkins Student * Johns Hopkins' Student Slaying Suspect Pleads Guilty  BALTIMORE -- The man convicted of killing a Johns Hopkins University student who wanted to become a doctor has been formally sentenced to life in prison. Under the plea deal previously reached with Donta M. Allen, he will someday be eligible for parole. Allen pleaded guilty in November to first-degree murder in connection with the strangulation death of 21-year-old Linda Trinh in January 2005. He told police that he intended to burglarize Trinh's apartment while she wasn't home. When he found her in the apartment, the two started arguing, and it became violent when she tried to call police. Trinh's brother Quang gave a victim impact statement on Monday at Allen's sentencing hearing. He said his sister lived her life serving others and had wanted to make a difference in the world by studying medicine. Mother Captured in Child Killings * Mom Wanted After Kids Found Stabbed To Death Atlanta police have captured a 26-year-old woman wanted for murdering her own two children in Barrow County last week. Felicia Williams had been on the run since the children, ages 9 and 5, were stabbed to death during a violent rampage. The hunt for Williams ended in southeast Atlanta just after 1 a.m. Tuesday when a tipster alerted police officers to a sighting of Williams. Police found her hiding behind a bed inside an apartment. Phony Cop Charged In 2 Queens Rapes A manipulative rapist preyed on women by posing as a law-enforcement officer, complete with an identification card, a two-way radio and a notebook, prosecutors said. Eric McCoy, 37, was ordered held without bail Friday on charges that he raped two young women in Queens in the last five weeks, and also tried unsuccessfully to lure a 15-year-old girl. District Attorney Richard Brown said McCoy intimidated his victims by impersonating a police officer, then threatened to arrest or even shoot the women if they refused his demands for sex. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |

Court papers show Johnson knew the victim and his family very well. According to court papers, Johnson got so close to the victim and his family over the last 9 years, he became the victim's godfather. He worked as a sentry at the former James Madison School . Ghanaian migrant raped 14-year-old girl Police say a 33-year-old Worcester man met a local girl on the MySpace.com Web site a year ago when she was just 14 and twice had sex with her after buying her gifts and taking her to the movies. Richard Acquaye, a married father with four children, wept as he pleaded innocent Friday in Attleboro District Court to charges of statutory rape, rape of a child by force, indecent assault and battery and enticing a person for the purposes of sexual intercourse. The judge ordered Acquaye, a native of Ghana in West Africa and a U.S. citizen, held in jail on $50,000 cash bail after hearing bail arguments. Ride home ends in rape, woman says A woman who says she thought she was helping two other women get home from a bar this week was dragged across southeast Lexington, robbed and raped, police said. A Lexington man turned himself in to authorities yesterday to face charges of kidnapping, rape and sodomy in the alleged attack. Both women are black. One was described as light-skinned with shoulder-length, curly hair, 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-5 and weighing between 185 and 200 pounds. Bowers was kidnapped while using a pay phone at a local convenience store the night of March 7, 1990. Sallisaw negro accused of raping 18-year-old Sallisaw man was recently charged with allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl in her Sallisaw home. Kenneth Wayne Shoates, 45, of Sallisaw was charged Dec. 19 with one count of first-degree rape, according to court records. He is currently being held on no bond in the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw and is expected to appear in court Jan. 10, jail officials said Tuesday. According to court records, the victim reported shortly after midnight on Dec. 12 that a black male, known to her as "Y2K," arrived at her mobile home in Sallisaw at 10:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Shaved-Head Black Rapist Strikes Again Fla. -- Pembroke Pines police have released a sketch and a computer-generated image of a man they say has committed two rapes. On Friday, Dec. 22, a man forced his way into a house in area of Johnson Street and Hiatus Road. Once inside, police said the man raped a woman in the home. She was able to escape the attacker, and the man fled in an unknown direction. Investigators said they believe the man may have committed a similar sexual assault on June 17 in the area of Sheridan Street and Palm Avenue. NAACP upset police killed Negro rapist in self-defense Authorities ruled that Dunn police were justified in fatally shooting a teen while trying to serve arrest warrants on him. Matthew Leon Burris, 19, was shot seven times by police as they tried to arrest him on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and carrying a concealed weapon. The District Attorney issued a report saying the shooting was justified. The incident prompted an outcry from Dunn's "minority" community. Black Racist "Boom Box" Suspect Sought In Trolley Hate Crime Attack on White  San Diego police need your help to catch a suspect in a hate crime that happened on a trolley at night. The suspect is an African-American man between 5 feet 10 and six feet two. His hair was in braids, and carrying a boom box. Police say he got on the trolley and made racially-motivated remarks to a white man and physically attacked him. The man continued to make the remarks while pacing back and forth on the trolley and turning up the volume on a boom box. At the Euclid Ave stop, the black punched the white man in the head, knocking him down. Demarcus convicted of murdering girl, 15 - stabbed 16 times   PHILADELPHIA -- A man was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder in the death of a 15-year-old girl who authorities said was stabbed, beaten, burned and thrown in the water before being found dead on a riverbank. Demarcus Hamms, 21, the fourth and final defendant in the case, was convicted in the April 2005 death of Christine Ham, a Chester High School sophomore killed at a Southwest Philadelphia housing project. A Common Pleas Court jury deliberated for nearly five hours during two days before returning its verdict. Hamms showed no emotion in court as the foreman read the guilty verdicts on the murder charge and on criminal conspiracy and weapons offenses. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, so Hamms will be sentenced to life in prison at his sentencing hearing. Joan Ignudo, the victim's mother, said the verdict meant "a new beginning" for family members. "It gave us a little bit of peace," she said. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |

Smiling Black pleads not guilty to running down a white family in McDonald's parking lot - killing 2-year-old   The black man accused of running down five white family members and killing a 2-year-old girl in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Covington last May pleaded not guilty. Lanny Perry Barnes, 46, attended the 15-minute arraignment hearing wearing street clothes and no expression on his face. Sitting behind him was Stephanie Casola, the mother who was hit, along with her two sons, niece, and sister, by Barnes' vehicle. Witnesses told police that Barnes struck the family, backed up, smiled, and drove into them again. Casola's niece, Avery King, died of her injuries. Skull Found in creek ID'd as 5-year-old White girl Emily Rimel - kidnaped, raped and murdered by black   A skull found in a creek earlier this week has been identified as that of a five-year-old columbus-area girl who disappeared a year and a-half ago. Investigators have identified the remains of Emily Rimel through DNA. Emily was last seen at her home early in the morning on December 7th, 2004. Two people fishing found the skull on Tuesday. The Coroner ays there was trauma to the skull. With confirmation that the remains are those of Emily Rimel, the prosecutor's office can move ahead with plans to seek murder charges against the main suspect. Lindsay Bruce, is serving a 10-year sentence after he was convicted of kidnapping Rimel in December 2004. At the time, Bruce was not charged with murder. While Ohio law does not require the presence of a corpse to charge someone in a homicide, doing so without a body does raise the chances that a jury could acquit. O'Brien says this could easily become a death penalty case based on several factors, including Rimel's age. Over the next few weeks, reports will be written state crime lab investigators and the county coroner's office. Black Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday.
