White Roosevelt Student Beaten In Robbery Attempt by Black * Roosevelt student kidnapped from own car  Des Moines police are looking for a teenager they said kidnapped, beat up and robbed a Roosevelt High School student. Authorities said a warrant has been issued for 15-year-old Karlos Laverne Goldman Jr. on charges of second-degree kidnapping and robbery. When Mike French left Des Moines' Central Campus Wednesday, two people approached his car asking for a ride. "They asked for a ride and told the general vicinity and he said sure, that's not far out of my way. I'd be happy to do that," said Mark French, French's father Police said French, Karlos and another person drove to West Des Moines where French's girlfriend's mother gave the assailants $100. French eventually dropped the two off back in Des Moines, but not before he was punched nearly 20 times. "These people are out at large and they could prey on somebody else," Mark French said. Des Moines police don't know the identity of the second assailant. They said Karlos Goldman is a student at Scavo high school, right next to Central Campus.

Woman burned during sexual assault dies A 22-year-old Fort Dodge woman who was sexually assaulted and then critically burned when her house was set on fire has died, a hospital spokesman said Friday.
The woman, who had been hospitalized at University Hospitals in Iowa City since Jan. 8, died Thursday night, spokesman Tom Moore said. Firefighters found her bound in the basement of her burning home. A passerby had noticed smoke coming from her house. At least two separate fires damaged the house, investigators said.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Sessions Lamont Harper, 34, of Fort Dodge.
He was arrested on Jan. 11 in Des Moines. He's currently charged with first-degree kidnapping, attempted murder, third-degree sexual assault and first-degree arson. - (Newsroom) - (Burned Alive!) - (crime) |
Mother of Missing Boy Confesses to Killing Him There's been a shocking arrest in the case of Ahmad King, the three-year-old reported missing from Jesup. Police now think his mother killed him. It all began around 4pm Tuesday afternoon in the Jesup Wal-Mart parking lot when Ahmad's mother reported him missing. Today, the investigation and search carried over into Bacon County, where authorities updated us on the case at the courthouse in Alma. Police say information they obtained in the Kings' house after a search and countless interviews with the parents have led to this arrest. African Migrant Rape, Kidnapping Suspect Could Be In Columbus - or trying to return to his native Guinea  Ohio -- Authorities said that they are searching for a man who is wanted for rape and kidnapping. Mamady Keita is from New Guinea and could flee the country, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers. He is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 142 pounds, with a medium build, black hair, brown eyes, and has a mustache. Authorities say Keita has a scar on his right forearm. Anyone who know Mamady's whereabouts is asked to contact Central Ohio Crime Stoppers anonymously at (645-8477 or (877) 645-8477.

Man Pleads Guilty In Eagan Rape Case A 23-year-old man was sentenced to six years in prison for breaking into an Eagan, Minn. woman's apartment and raping her, attorneys said. George H. Merrida IV pleaded guilty Thursday to criminal sexual conduct and burglary in the October 2004 assault, the Dakota County Attorney's Office said.
Merrida was accused of breaking into the 18-year-old victim's apartment and attacking her in her sleep.
The victim woke up during the attack, attorneys said. The assault ended when the victim's phone rang and Merrida left the apartment. DNA evidence eventually connected Merrida to the rape case.
The victim's sister, who lived in the same apartment where the assault took place, told police Merrida had come to the apartment about a month before the attack and asked to use the phone.

Robinson has been charged with 1st degree child rape.
The girl he is accused of raping is more than eight months pregnant. His bond has been set at one million dollars.

Rape Suspect Arrested in Richland County DNA evidence has led to them to a rapist.
Forty-year-old Andrew Hingleton was arrested Friday afternoon. Investigators say he is charged with 4 counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, as well as 4 counts of kidnapping.
Police say the assaults happened between September 2005 and January of this year and they say Hingleton indicated there could be more victims.

Fla. -- A kidnapping and rape suspect is in the Orange County jail with his bond set at $7,500. Deputies arrested Antwoin Turner on Saturday night at the Lake Westin Point Apartments on Forest City Road. Police are still searching for the other two suspects in the kidnapping and rape of an Orlando woman. Investigators said Turner, along with Darrian Pryor and Prince Rolle attacked the woman last Wednesday.

Ind. -- A man who was entrusted to work with teens at an alternative school faces charges after police say he had sexual contact with a 17-year-old student. Quincy Adams Jr., 24, a teacher's aide, was arrested Friday after an allegation involving a student at Mosaics School. Police said Adams invited the student to his apartment, where the alleged incident took place. "Grotesque, nasty, disgusting -- you just don't do something like that," said Carmel student Brogan Eppley. Police said this incident was not the only time Adams had students from the school come to his apartment. 
A Navy sailor who viciously beat a Pensacola woman outside a downtown nightclub and left her hospitalized for five days was convicted Friday of charges that could put him in prison for as long as 20 years. Keona Shawn Berg, 23, was convicted of felony battery and attempted sexual battery of the woman outside Seville Quarter in the early morning hours of Feb. 20.
A jury deliberated more than 2? hours before finding Berg guilty of attempted sexual battery.
Judge Frank Bell is scheduled to sentence Berg on Feb. 22. Berg showed no emotion as the verdict was announced, unlike the victim -- whose parents and husband watched the two-day trial -- none of Berg's family or friends was present.

Ohio -- A 21-year-old man forced a teenage girl to have sex with him while threatening her with a knife, according to police. 
Sheriff's deputies arrested a man in Modesto suspected of raping, drugging and kidnapping a girl in Coulterville. Aaron Suarez, 34, of Modesto was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, rape of a drugged victim, unlawful sex with a minor under the age of 16 and committing lewd acts with a minor, among other charges. The Sheriff's Department was seeking Suarez, who was suspected of rape and kidnapping, which happened within the last few weeks. A K-9 officer sent in his dog. Suarez, however, had climbed into a small crawl space into the attic.
