(AP) - The Mexican consulate has asked for an investigation into the shooting of German Gomez, a Mexican citizen by a sheriff's deputy responding to a report of an attempted burglary. Gomez's family said he and his cousin, Javier Dominguez, 21, who had both recently moved from the southern Mexican province of Chiapas, "mistakenly went to the wrong apartment when they returned home from work". |

of punishing 27 illegal immigrants, a Northampton County judge complimented
them and set them free. The immigrants were arrested Oct. 27 for using false or
stolen Social Security numbers to get jobs. After being rewarded with a week
of free room and board at taxpayer expense in Northampton County Prison, the men
pleaded guilty to tampering with public records. Fourteen of them also pleaded
guilty to identity theft. Northampton County Judge Leonard N. Zito acknowledged it was wrong for them to use false Social Security numbers, but said their crimes warranted no punishment because "they broke the law to earn a living". "I see gentlemen who are here illegally strictly for the purpose of working," Zito said, adding it is a "sad day" for the country when prosecutors arrest men for trying to make better lives for themselves and their families. Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli has spoken out repeatedly against immigration-related crimes. Horow Omah Hagi was accused of following the woman to her Lisbon Street
apartment on July 10 and forcing her to have sex. The judge told Hagi that because
he is a Somali immigrant, he will likely be deported after he serves his
time. The victim spoke in court about how the rape has affected her life. "I
wish he didn’t have the right to do what he did to me," she said, her
voice cracking. "He hurt me in a lot of ways." Hagi’s arrest came
less than a month after he pleaded guilty to
stalking a 14-year-old newspaper delivery girl. He was convicted of
that charge on June 24 and sentenced to two days in jail, followed by one year

Nigerian migrant gynecologist facing sex and fraud charges  Prosecutors
say they will file felony sexual-abuse and insurance-fraud charges today against
Dr. Charles Momah, a South King County gynecologist whose license was suspended

Doctor Ndolo, originally from Africa, indicted on statutory rape charges
Indicted and arrested: a Fairhope doctor faces second-degree rape charges. His
alleged victim: a fourteen-year-old girl.
Dr. Joseph Ndolo
is not speaking on the second-degree statutory rape charge he faces. The 14-year-old
alleged victim told child protective service officers in Texas that
the doctor had raped her during a visit to Fairhope last summer. Investigators
traveled to Texas to interview the teen-aged girl and gather physical evidence.

-- An illegal alien was convicted of raping
four women and a 14-year-old girl -- the daughter of one of the victims
-- in attacks near Rutgers University. Ricardo Cepates was convicted of
26 counts of kidnapping, rape and robbery. Police used DNA evidence to link him
to the five rapes. The victims testified that they were grabbed and threatened
with a knife or, in one case, a broken beer bottle, while walking in a working-class
neighborhood near the Rutgers campus. Two of the victims were Rutgers students,
one of whom said she was savagely beaten and suffered a broken jaw and cheekbone.
MANAGUA,
Nicaragua - Former welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga returned home
Wednesday after a loss to Felix Trinidad and almost immediately was ordered under
house arrest.
